Hello Parents and Families -
What a beautiful weekend to welcome October! It feels warmer than usual, but there is still the feel of Fall in the air and the leaves are turning gorgeous colors - it is my favorite season! October is a busy month, so please make sure to see below for everything that is coming up.
We will finish our first math module on place value and the foundations of multiplication this week and take the test early next week. We are also moving along in our personal narrative unit in CKLA. Students are learning to identify descriptive language in stories and practicing using it in their own writing. They will begin their first writing assignment soon about a significant event in their lives. We also began our first science unit this week about energy - exploring how our bodies use energy from food in the same way that cars use gasoline for energy. We will continue exploring energy this week as we investigate circuits.
We are running low on classroom snacks. Fourth graders have the latest lunch of the day, so students get hungry by mid-morning. I like to be able to provide a snack for any students who want one, so any contributions are much appreciated!
Coming Up:
Picture Day on Thursday, 10/13

Picture Day on Thursday, 10/13
- School picture day will be Thursday, October 13. Picture packets will come home with students this week. You can pre-order your pictures online, or you may use the order form and have your child bring it with them on picture day.
- This is a non-attendance day for students, as it is set aside for teacher and staff professional development.
- The Gause Boosters are organizing a fall fundraising event - a Bingo & Silent Auction Night! The date of the event is set for Friday, October 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the evening. 4th grade is putting together a basket to be auctioned at the event. The theme of the 4th grade basket is family game night. We were thinking of board games, treats, popcorn, etc. Any donations are very much appreciated. Please sign up for any items you are able to donate so we don't receive duplicates of the same items. Please contact Mrs. Davis or Mrs. Riat with any questions or if there are any issues in signing up for a donation. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e48acab29a2fa7-4thgrade
- All schools will have a 3-hour early release for the week of 10/24 - 10/28 to provide time for conferences. I will be sending out a sign-up link in the next week or so for families to choose a time to meet. Conferences will be offered in-person or on Zoom, so you will be able to choose which is most convenient for you.
